Bathroom Lighting

Bathroom lighting is one of those very important aspects to get right, creating the perfect atmosphere and ambiance to a bathroom. There are several different ways of using lighting to get your bathroom looking its best.

Bathroom ceiling lights

Ceiling lights for the bathroom can be a tricky thing to choose. You can go for one central ceiling light, or use spotlights in the centre of the room. Both these options allow you to create a moodier feel with shadows in the bathroom. It is becoming more popular to use several recessed lights in the bathroom, but remember that this is often extremely bright and allows little room for you to experiment with different angles. The strong downlighting give a simple, bright light to all parts of the bathroom. Angled spotlights in the centre of the ceiling are often a better idea if you want to draw attention to certain areas of the room and leave others slightly shadowed. This is more flexible and gives you the option of lighting your bathroom in a more interesting way.

Alongside the ceiling lighting, wall lights a great way of adding an extra dimension to your bathroom and make things even more interesting. Bathroom wall lights are perfect above sinks and next to mirrors, where they serve a more practical purpose. Try to choose wall lights that are similar to the style of ceiling lighting that you've chosen, and this will ensure they look well placed.
