Commercial Emergency Exit Sign Lights
Most commercial buildings will be required to feature emergency exit sign lighting which is compliant with I.S. 3217:2008. Exit lighting should always be illuminated and indicate safe, unobstructed exits from buildings in the events of accidents and catastrophic events. The lighting facilitates the smooth evacuation of the buildings and so minimises potential panic and chaos while ensuring that people escape danger as quickly as possible.
Emergency escape signs must be rectangular or square with green backgrounds and white symbols. The safety colour green must cover at least 50% of the surface of the sign. Escape routes should be at least one metre wide. The escape route should lead to a place of safety, normally outside and away from the building. Doors on escape routes must always be available for use without the use of a key.
Our Range of Emergency Exit Lighting
At O'Briens Lighting we have the compliant exit lighting that you need together with legends which should be displayed to direct people to the exits. In simple buildings where the exit is obvious, signage and lighting may not be required. But in more complex buildings, fire exit signs are a necessity. In some cases, directional signs will also be required to lead occupants along the shortest route to escape. These are green exit signs with arrows indicating which way to go.
